When Disney announced that Frightfully Fun Parade would not be returning to Oogie Boogie Bash in 2026, I was a little bummed.

It’s such a fun Halloween parade, and after seeing it year after year, I was definitely going to miss watching all of those villains, characters and spooky floats make their way through California Adventure.

Then Disney announced something completely new: Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake.

And after seeing it in person? I’m not missing Frightfully Fun as much as I thought I would.

Rather than being a traditional parade that simply travels through the park, Swinging Wake brings the entertainment directly to guests, with performers stopping along the route to dance and interact with the crowd.

And I absolutely loved it.

The music is incredibly catchy, the performers bring so much energy to the experience, and the floats add a great visual element to the whole thing.

What about the Headless Horseman?

If you’ve attended Oogie Boogie Bash in previous years, you probably know that one of the most exciting parts of the evening is seeing the Headless Horseman.

The Headless Horseman has been part of the Oogie Boogie Bash Halloween entertainment in previous years, and he’s still part of the spooky atmosphere surrounding the evening’s entertainment.

The best place to watch Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake

Here’s my biggest tip if you want to see Swinging Wake:

Watch from the area between Mickey’s PhilharMagic and Schmoozies!

This was my favorite viewing location because you’re in a spot where the performers stop and dance.

And that’s really where this new street party shines.

Instead of simply watching performers pass by, you get to see the choreography up close and experience the energy of the show right in front of you.

If you want this spot, I’d recommend getting there early and claiming your viewing area before the performance begins.

A new favorite for Oogie Boogie Bash?

I’ll admit it: I went into Oogie Boogie Bash 2026 a little disappointed that Frightfully Fun Parade wasn’t coming back.

But I also think it’s fun when Disney takes a chance on something completely new.

And Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake was a really fun surprise.

It’s not Frightfully Fun and it doesn’t need to be.

It’s something completely new.

And after seeing it for myself, I’m very happy that Madame Leota’s Swinging Wake is part of Oogie Boogie Bash 2026.
