There are few things better than experiencing Disneyland before the sun comes up but getting to do it while supporting an incredible cause makes it even more special.

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to participate in the CHOC Walk in the Park, thanks to my friend Lindsey, who was invited to attend as media and graciously brought me along as her +1.

We checked in around 4:30 a.m. which is very early for just about anything but getting to walk a 5k through Disneyland and Disney California Adventure before the parks opened made the early wake-up call worth it.

Walking for a Cause

While the Disney magic was definitely a highlight, the CHOC Walk is ultimately about something much bigger: supporting children and families who need it most.

The event brings the Disney community together to raise funds for Rady Children’s Health, helping support pediatric healthcare, innovative programs, research, education, and resources for kids and their families.

It’s a wonderful reminder that the Disney community can come together to create a positive impact beyond the parks and there are so many ways to get involved, whether that’s fundraising to participate in the walk, supporting a team, or simply learning more about the organizations and the work they do.

Rare Character Sightings at Disneyland

Of course, being at Disneyland meant there was still plenty of Disney magic along the way!

One of my favorite parts of the CHOC Walk was seeing some rare characters greeting guests from afar throughout the parks. Some aren’t characters you typically see during a regular day at Disneyland, so I was definitely keeping my eyes open.

We spotted Sally Slater from The Haunted Mansion, Pocahontas, and Launchpad McQuack, just to name a few!

How You Can Get Involved

If you’re a Disneyland fan looking for a way to give back, the CHOC Walk is an event worth keeping an eye on.

You don’t have to be a marathon runner or an experienced athlete to participate. You can join the walk, fundraise with a team, support someone else’s fundraising efforts, or simply learn more about the work CHOC Foundation does for kids and families.
