One of the most iconic photo spots in Disney California Adventure’s early years wasn’t a ride, it was the giant CALIFORNIA letters that greeted guests at the front entrance.

Many Disney fans assume the letters disappeared when the park was remodeled, but they’re actually still on display today at Cal Expo in Sacramento, California.

A Little Disney History

The CALIFORNIA letters were part of Disney California Adventure when the park opened in 2001. Guests loved posing with their favorite letters, making them one of the most photographed spots in the park.

When Disney transformed the park entrance into Buena Vista Street in 2011, the letters were removed as part of the redesign.

Instead of scrapping them, Disney donated the letters to the California State Fair, and they found a new home at Cal Expo in Sacramento in 2012.

Visiting the Letters Today

The letters are located outside Cal Expo and can still be visited by Disney fans looking for a piece of California Adventure history.

If you’re planning a stop, keep in mind that parking at Cal Expo is currently $20, whether or not an event is taking place.

Despite the parking fee, it’s a fun and nostalgic stop for Disney fans who remember the original entrance to Disney California Adventure.
